In addition to announcing the appearance of the Nokia Lumia 928, Microsoft on today’s show also said that there are currently 145 thousand applications available on the Windows Phone Store. The overall number of applications considered quite good but unfortunately happen slowdown in growth from previous periods.
As an illustration, in June 2012, the number of apps in the Windows Phone Store has officially reached 100,000 applications. That number is twice the number the number of applications in the previous 6 months. Therefore it can be seen that in a period of nearly one year later, the number of apps in the Windows Store only gets 45,000 applications. If you look at the growth rate of the previous period, then the actual Windows Phone Store is able to reach 140,000 apps in the last month of January 2013.
This growth slowdown turns on even when Microsoft has released Windows Phone 8. Therefore, the Microsoft is still deemed necessary to further improve support for application developers so that the number of applications available on the Windows Phone Store continues to grow and compete with Apple’s App Store or Google Play Store that has reached more than 500 thousand applications to date.
